Weeks before the festival, parents buy colourful lanterns and mooncakes for their kids. On the night of the festival, children parade in the streets, singing songs and carrying their glowing lanterns. Another exciting activity is the lion dance, which is performed by skilled dancers to the sound of loud drums. The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
